[ Unfortunately, he's not far enough gone not to recognise the sound of footsteps approaching outside his bedroom nor the fact that they very distinctively belong to John. He presses his lips together in a vain attempt to stop any further exclamations or sounds, just - why is he coming in, can't he bloody hear... As the door slips open and John comes in (carrying water and a drinking glass, that's nice, though evidence suggests he can't currently ingest anything without throwing up), he shuts his eyes just to block out the visual of someone else (John, of all people) in his vicinity, the knowledge that he's being watched. The pain in his leg intensifies and he keeps rubbing it, uselessly.

At John's question, he blinks hard. Swallows before replying: ]

No.

[ Logically, he understands why John's asking as he is - after all, these cramps aren't a joke when they happen in your lower body but in your chest area, for instance? He's seen people suffer heart attacks on that account. But the sound of his voice only emphasises his presence and isn't he sick, shouldn't he be taking care of himself? Sherlock opens his eyes and looks at him, eyes narrowing in concentration for a moment as he takes him in (clear eyes, skin tone natural, dry, healthier). ]

You look better.

[ It comes out a bit weak, mostly just an observation, though it begs the question of whether the man's going back to work tomorrow. Along with that comes a massive dose of ambivalence because on the one hand, he'd really like John as far away as possible from his smelly, awful, pitiful corpse of a body. On the other, it's... well. It's not terrible, doing this with someone else around for a change, someone he actually... Oh God, his brain really isn't high anymore, is it? Shut up, shut up, Jesus, leg cramp! He gasps, fingers digging uselessly into the stubborn muscle of his right thigh, his foot kicking a bit uselessly. It goes all the way into his lower back this time, too. Ow. ]

[ Teeth grinding together, he tries to shut out John's movements in the room - into the bathroom - water, basin, cupboards (yeah, his brain doesn't shut down, it just isn't happening) - with a groan, he's about to turn on his side just to do something with the restlessness currently coursing through his body when John comes back. He looks up, eyes narrowed from pain, just in time to see a cloth coming for his face. He blinks hard, a mixture of tears and sweat running down his cheeks in response. Disgusting. Oh, it's just - so - nasty.

Then, John finally presses the cloth - warm, thank God, and the water's lovely and clean - against his brow. He gasps, his fingers twitching as his skin explodes from the sudden onslaught of stimulation, neurons firing uselessly, like his body's in a panic. It hurts, yes, but it's also... the water's nice. John's proximity smells like him and it comes through the haze of sickness and sweat as clearly as if he'd been sniffing his shirts. Again. Anyway. He breathes in, breathes out, the cramp in his leg growing fainter. It'll be back soon enough, of course, but right now he'll take what little pockets of calm he gets, thanks. ]

I've had worse. [ He shuts his eyes. Speech takes effort. ] Nurses. I'd rather have you.

[ It's quite honest and quite raw, the words themselves and this whole ordeal. Tomorrow, no doubt, he'll regret not locking his bedroom door to keep the other man out because this amount of vulnerability cannot be taken back, it'll take root and set precedence. Deal with that later, he thinks as another cramp starts up in his left foot, bending his toes obscenely upwards. He bites his lower lip and flexes his foot, then gives up and lies back, waiting for it all to go away. ]
