unsolicited letter.

To Dr. John Hamish Watson,

I'm taking the liberty of contacting you directly and unsolicited, because we at Doctors Without Borders have been made aware of your former employment with the British Armed Forces, a capacity in which your work has been recommended to us by multiple sources. Although we have been informed of your invalided status and discharge from the Army, several high-ranking officials from the organization follow your current life via your blog and we have discussed whether perhaps we could present you with a job offer that you would find inspiring, interesting and fulfilling.

You may have followed the progress of the Yemeni Civil War on the news and perhaps, you even know that Doctors Without Borders have a mission in the area, one that I regret to inform you, it is exceedingly difficult to supply with necessary staff of sufficient skill. Our hope was that you would consider joining our ranks, even just temporarily, and cover the position of head surgeon at our hospital in Yemen during periods when it would otherwise be without one, seeing as you have experience already from the Middle East.

We understand that this is a huge decision that one shouldn't approach lightly, but as we are as ever in time trouble, we can unfortunately only offer you two weeks to get back to us with your answer. Please consider our proposition carefully, the full list of terms and conditions have been attached to this email.

We look very much forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Dr. Martha Elizabeth Stewart,
Director of Médecins Sans Frontières, United Kingdom Branch
